Client: South West Water & Cornwall Housing
Objective:
To reduce lead concentrations for 12 properties in Truro to within new EU standards (10ug/l) by lining service pipes using ePIPE technology.
Results:
- Average reduction in Lead Concentration 68%
- Post Lining Compliance against 10 ug/l 100% compliance (first draw).
Project Features
- The water supply for the area was not phosphate dosed
- Target to line between 2 to 3 properties per day
- 100% of the service pipe was to be lined (from the connection on the water main to the internal stop tap in the kitchen at the rear of each house)
- The communication pipes were only 7m (27%) of the overall service pipe length
- Internal stop tap adaptors were to be used, to minimise internal plumbing and reduce customer disruption
- Collaboration project between PRS, South West Water and Cornwall Housing
Results
- Average reduction in Lead Concentration 68% Pb reduction
- Post Lining Compliance against 10 ug/l 100% compliance (first draw)
“This pilot project shows that lining the entire service pipe, using ePIPE, is an appropriate technique to achieve compliance with the lead standard. Cornwall Housing confirmed that the residents were pleased with the experience.”
